Irish artist Dove Ellis has released his debut single, “To The Sandals,” which he categorizes as “reflections on a failing shotgun marriage in Cancún.” The music was self-produced, recorded in Nan’s House in Liverpool, engineered by Sophie Ellis and mixed by Andrew Sarlo (Dijon, Big Thief, Mk.gee).
He’ll join the New York band Geese on their North American fall tour beginning October 31st and wrapping up at the Brooklyn Paramount in New York on November 21st. Additional headline dates will be announced soon.
In the UK and Ireland’s ever-accelerating post-Covid music scene, genres are dissolving faster than ever before, and Dove is a prime example of this shapeshifting next-Gen. His writing covers a range of styles — from soft acoustic ballads to hammering bass lines to visceral, ambient soundscapes — all kept tight and cohesive behind his high tenor croon. Cutting his teeth in Manchester’s flourishing live scene, Dove has been spreading word-of-mouth after notable performances at All Points East, support slots for Fabiana Palladino and dimly-lit headline shows in crumbling mansions. With music currently recorded only on homemade CD’s of hissy 4-track demos, and with a slew of upcoming festival slots (All Together Now, End of the Road, Manchester Psych Fest), Dove is preparing to release his hotly anticipated debut single.
